Outdoor & Farm-Based Education
Drift Farmstead is a small family farm nestled in the hills of Vermont and is home to The Vermont Farm and Forest School (VFFS).
Drift Farmstead sits on land which has served as a site of meeting and exchange among indigenous peoples for many 1,000’s of years. The Western Abenaki are the traditional caretakers of these Vermont lands and waters, which they call Ndakinna, or “homeland.” We remember their connection to this region and the hardships they continue to endure. We give thanks for the opportunity to be the current stewards of this land.
At VFFS, we value our deep connection to the natural world and believe that humans can have a positive impact on the earth.
We offer people the tools to connect to oneself, one another, and to the natural world.
As teachers, we provide experiences immersed in nature that highlight our interdependence — so each person can root back into the web of life.
As farmers, we steward the land through holistic management, organic and regenerative practices — supporting biodiversity, healthy soils, clean water, and thriving plants, animals, and people.
